  • 0:02 - 0:06
OFFSCREEN NARRATOR: Hi. In this video,
I'm going to show you how you can download
  • 0:06 - 0:10
    and install R and RStudio
    on your Windows computer.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
    So you will go ahead
and open up a web browser.
  • 0:17 - 0:19
    Mine is Google Chrome.
  • 0:21 - 0:25
And you will go to the website,
    "r-project.org."
  • 0:31 - 0:34
    You will go ahead
and click the "download R" link.
  • 0:35 - 0:39
And this is where you will select
    your CRAN Mirror, or,
  • 0:40 - 0:42
where R will be downloaded from.
  • 0:42 - 0:45
    So, pick the location
    that is closest to you.
  • 0:45 - 0:48
So, I'm here in the United States.
  • 0:48 - 0:50
    So I will scroll down
    to the United States.
  • 0:50 - 0:55
Or you can always do this cloud one,
and that'll work just fine as well.
  • 0:56 - 0:59
    Go ahead and click
    "Download R for Windows".
  • 0:59 - 1:02
And click "install R for the first time."
  • 1:03 - 1:08
    And then hit "Download R,"
    and then whatever version number.
  • 1:08 - 1:12
This might be updated by the time
    you watch this video.
  • 1:12 - 1:14
    R is continually updating.
  • 1:14 - 1:18
So, as long as you're just getting
the most recent one that's on this page,
  • 1:18 - 1:20
    that's what's most important.
  • 1:21 - 1:23
That'll go ahead and start downloading.
  • 1:25 - 1:27
And once it is all downloaded,
  • 1:28 - 1:31
go ahead and open up the file.
  • 1:34 - 1:37
Alright, go ahead and go through
    the installation process,
  • 1:38 - 1:40
    accepting all of these defaults.
  • 1:54 - 1:56
Hopefully, it shouldn't take too long.
  • 2:00 - 2:01
If you want, while we're waiting,
  • 2:01 - 2:04
we can go to the website
    where we can download RStudio.
  • 2:04 - 2:08
    So you can go ahead
    and go to "rstudio.com."
  • 2:11 - 2:12
    And then,
  • 2:12 - 2:15
we will wait here until we're ready.
  • 2:21 - 2:23
Okay. And now it has been set up.
  • 2:23 - 2:25
    Go ahead and click "Finish."
  • 2:25 - 2:28
    So now you have downloaded
    and installed R.
  • 2:28 - 2:31
    So now let's go ahead
    and download and install RStudio.
  • 2:31 - 2:34
    So at RStudio.com,
    click the "Download" button,
  • 2:36 - 2:39
    and choose the RStudio Desktop
    free version.
  • 2:39 - 2:42
We do not need you to pay for this.
  • 2:44 - 2:45
    Go ahead,
  • 2:45 - 2:48
make sure you already have R installed,
    which we do.
  • 2:48 - 2:52

    also go through and accept
    all the defaults as well.
  • 3:23 - 3:26
    And install RStudio.
  • 3:29 - 3:30
I'll go ahead and take a pause real quick
  • 3:30 - 3:35
    just while this, installs
so, you don't have to sit here and wait.
  • 3:38 - 3:40
Alright, my RStudio is just about done.
  • 3:40 - 3:41
    Oh. It's done.
  • 3:41 - 3:44
Perfect. Go ahead and click "Finish".
  • 3:44 - 3:45
    Okay.

and come to your start menu
  • 3:48 - 3:51
    and search for RStudio.
  • 3:55 - 4:00
And when you open up RStudio,
it should look something like this.
  • 4:02 - 4:04
    Or even just like this.
  • 4:04 - 4:07
If you've gotten to this point,
    this is great.
