What does it mean in my life?

How does it affect my life?
  • 1:10 - 1:12
    Speaking of levels of faith.
  • 1:12 - 1:16
    Well, we all operate on
one of three levels of faith.
  • 1:16 - 1:20
    And the longer you live,
    certainly the more faith
  • 1:20 - 1:21
you and I ought to have.
  • 1:21 - 1:24
And the higher up these levels
we ought to go in our faith.
  • 1:24 - 1:27
But some people will stay all of
their lives on the lowest level
  • 1:27 - 1:30
    because number one, maybe
    they don't even know that
  • 1:30 - 1:32
    there are levels of faith.
  • 1:32 - 1:35
    And secondly, too
    afraid to launch out,
  • 1:35 - 1:38
    too fearful to trust God.
  • 1:38 - 1:41
And so what happens is you go
through life and you miss His
  • 1:41 - 1:46
    best because you
    never grow in your faith.
  • 1:46 - 1:49
And that's what I want to
    talk about in this message,
  • 1:49 - 1:52
and that is "The Levels of Faith
in the Life of the Believer."
  • 1:52 - 1:55
    And it's very evident in
    scripture that faith is very,
  • 1:55 - 1:59
    very important in the eyes
of God and He sees faith as
  • 1:59 - 2:02
    very important in our life.
  • 2:02 - 2:05
And so, what we want to talk
about in this message is this.
  • 2:05 - 2:08
How to raise your faith level.
  • 2:08 - 2:12
How to get in a position where
you and your relationship to God
  • 2:12 - 2:15

  • 2:15 - 2:19

to the maximum of your potential

  • 2:25 - 2:27
    You don't trust Him,
    you don't get blessed.
  • 2:27 - 2:29
    You trust Him,
    you'll get blessed.
  • 2:29 - 2:32
And the more you trust Him and
the way that you're able to walk
  • 2:32 - 2:36
in these levels of faith, the
    greater the blessings are coming
  • 2:36 - 2:37
    your way.
  • 2:37 - 2:39
    Think about how
    absolutely essential and
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    important faith is.
  • 2:41 - 2:43
    And let's think
    about it in this light.
  • 2:43 - 2:45
    If you look at
    the life of Jesus,
  • 2:45 - 2:48
    look at His ministry,
    here's what you discover.
  • 2:48 - 2:52
    You discover that the theme
    of faith permeated the whole
  • 2:52 - 2:54
    ministry of Jesus
    no matter what.
  • 2:54 - 2:57
And I want to give you a few
verses of scripture and I won't
  • 2:57 - 3:00
have you turn to all of these
because I have enough of them
  • 3:00 - 3:01
    for you to turn to.
  • 3:01 - 3:03
But I want you to think
    about some of these verses,
  • 3:03 - 3:05
    for example, you find in
    the scriptures concerning
  • 3:05 - 3:07
    His healing ministry.
  • 3:07 - 3:12
Listen to what He is continually
    saying when He's confronting
  • 3:12 - 3:14
    people, where they're
    paralyzed, or they're blind,
  • 3:14 - 3:17
    or whatever the
    situation may be.
  • 3:17 - 3:19
    Listen for example.
  • 3:19 - 3:23
    In Matthew nine, He
    says to this lady,
  • 3:23 - 3:25
    "'Daughter, your faith
    has made you well.'"
  • 3:25 - 3:29
    Then in Matthew fifteen,
    "'O woman, your faith is great;
  • 3:29 - 3:31
    be it done unto you
    as you wish.'"
  • 3:31 - 3:36
And the fifth, second chapter of
    Mark, when these fellows are
  • 3:36 - 3:39
tearing up the roof of this
    man's house and letting their
  • 3:39 - 3:43
friend down by ropes so they, he
can finally get to Jesus and
  • 3:43 - 3:47
be healed, Jesus said to him,
    "seeing their faith,
  • 3:47 - 3:49
    'My son, your sins
    are forgiven.'"
  • 3:49 - 3:52
Then He says in Mark ten to
    Bartimaeus, the blind beggar,
  • 3:52 - 3:55
    "'Go your way; your faith
    has made you whole.'"
  • 3:55 - 3:57
    And again, He says, "Your
    faith has saved you.
  • 3:57 - 4:00
    Receive your sight, your
    faith has made you well.
  • 4:00 - 4:02
    Be it done unto you
    according to your faith."
  • 4:02 - 4:04
    All through the
    gospels--Matthew,
  • 4:04 - 4:07
    Mark, and Luke especially,
    what you find is Jesus,
  • 4:07 - 4:10
    the theme of His
    relationship to these people,
  • 4:10 - 4:13
    this needy people who
    have a health problem,
  • 4:13 - 4:15
    whatever it might be,
    it's always, listen,
  • 4:15 - 4:17
    based on their faith.
  • 4:17 - 4:21
Remember He said on one occasion
    he couldn't do any miracles
  • 4:21 - 4:22
    in a particular place
    because of their unbelief.
  • 4:22 - 4:25
    They didn't have any faith,
    they wouldn't trust Him.
  • 4:25 - 4:29
And oftentimes you and I miss
    out on God's best blessings
  • 4:29 - 4:31
    because we won't trust Him.
  • 4:31 - 4:33
    We don't believe
    that He loves us.
  • 4:33 - 4:35
    We don't believe that He
    will provide our needs.
  • 4:35 - 4:37
    We don't believe
    that He'll heal us.
  • 4:37 - 4:39
    We don't believe that He
    cares that much for us.
  • 4:39 - 4:42
But if you look at His ministry,
    what was He continually saying?
  • 4:42 - 4:44
    It was listen, it
    was trust Him--faith,
  • 4:44 - 4:46
    faith, faith, faith, faith.
  • 4:46 - 4:50
    So, if that's true in
    His ministry in His day.
  • 4:50 - 4:54
If it were so important that he
    magnified the subject of faith.
  • 4:54 - 4:56
    Nothing's changed.
  • 4:56 - 4:58
    Because you see,
    in our lifestyle,
  • 4:58 - 5:00
    in our lifetime, in the
    culture in which we live,
  • 5:00 - 5:03
    it makes no difference what
    generation and what culture.
  • 5:03 - 5:06
    Faith permeates every
    aspect of our life.
  • 5:06 - 5:08
So either we will live on
    this lower level of faith,
  • 5:08 - 5:10
    or we'll graduate.
  • 5:10 - 5:13
    And we'll, listen,
    we'll grow in our faith,
  • 5:13 - 5:15
    and our understanding.
  • 5:15 - 5:16
    And what'll happen is
    your life's going to change.

you begin to operate on level
  • 5:20 - 5:24

    your life's going to change.
  • 5:24 - 5:26
What are these levels of faith?
  • 5:26 - 5:28
    How do we distinguish
    between them?
  • 5:28 - 5:29
What does God say about them?
  • 5:29 - 5:31
    That's what I want us
    to consider primarily.
  • 5:31 - 5:36
So, I want to give you, listen,
I want to give you a level,
  • 5:36 - 5:38
then I want to give you a
word so you can remember it.
  • 5:38 - 5:41
    And the first level, listen,
the first level in scripture of
  • 5:41 - 5:43
    faith is little faith.
  • 5:43 - 5:45
    Little faith, and I
    want you to remember this.
  • 5:45 - 5:49
    Little faith is restless faith.
  • 5:49 - 5:52
    Little faith is wrestling.
  • 5:52 - 5:54
    Little faith, for
    example is saying,
  • 5:54 - 5:58
    I know He can, but
    I'm not sure He will.
  • 5:58 - 6:01
    Little faith is
    struggling--struggling because
  • 6:01 - 6:05
    it's a whole new perspective
    on the way we live.
  • 6:05 - 6:07
    And you remember
    what James said?
  • 6:07 - 6:09
    He that waver is like
    the winds of the sea,
  • 6:09 - 6:11
    blowing hither and yon,
    tossed to and fro.
  • 6:11 - 6:14
He says, "Don't let that person
    think they're going to receive
  • 6:14 - 6:15
    anything from God because
    God does not honor
  • 6:15 - 6:18
    that kind of faith."
  • 6:18 - 6:20
    Does this mean,
    watch this carefully,
  • 6:20 - 6:23
does this mean that God will
    never answer your prayers unless
  • 6:23 - 6:24
    you reach the
    third level of faith?
  • 6:24 - 6:25
    No, it doesn't mean that.
  • 6:25 - 6:28
    It means that your
    lifestyle is going to change.
  • 6:28 - 6:30
    It means that your relationship,
    it means that your request,
  • 6:30 - 6:35
that, it means that your, your
    fretting and your anxiety and
  • 6:35 - 6:38
    your questions and your doubts
are going to disappear and God's
  • 6:38 - 6:41
    going to do something absolutely
    fantastic in your life, why?
  • 6:41 - 6:44
    Because He wants
    the best for you.
  • 6:44 - 6:47
    He doesn't want us living
    on this particular level.
  • 6:47 - 6:49
    But this is level one.
  • 6:49 - 6:51
    Now I want you to
    listen carefully.
  • 6:51 - 6:56
    The reason people stay on
    level one--wrestling faith,
  • 6:56 - 6:59
    that is struggling faith,
    laboring faith--is because their
  • 6:59 - 7:03
    focus is on the circumstances
    and their focus is
  • 7:03 - 7:04
    on themselves.
  • 7:04 - 7:07
    Their resources, what
    they think they can do.
  • 7:07 - 7:11
And when your listen, when your
    focus is on your circumstances
  • 7:11 - 7:17
and your focus is on yourself,
your focus is on your resources,
  • 7:17 - 7:20
    you're not going to be
able to believe God for much.
  • 7:20 - 7:21
It's just not going to happen.
  • 7:21 - 7:23
    Because all of us
    have limited resources,
  • 7:23 - 7:25
    whether it's abilities and
    talents and skills or finances.
  • 7:25 - 7:29
And so as long as you're, as
long as you're asking and your
  • 7:29 - 7:32
    belief system,
    you're on level one.
  • 7:32 - 7:36
    It is the level of
    struggle, uncertainty,
  • 7:36 - 7:39
    doubts, laboring,
    and what happens?
  • 7:39 - 7:42
You're going to find that what
    you're really looking for
  • 7:42 - 7:44
in life, it's always seems to
be a little bit beyond you.
  • 7:44 - 7:46
    So what you have
    to realize is this.
  • 7:46 - 7:48
You have to ask yourself the
    question where is my focus?
  • 7:48 - 7:50
    Listen to this carefully.
  • 7:50 - 7:53
    God doesn't want you
    living on the level of
  • 7:53 - 7:58
    little faith--struggling,
    laboring, wrestling over it all.
  • 7:58 - 8:00
    Will He, maybe He will,
    maybe He won't.
  • 8:00 - 8:05
    Now here is a perfect
    example of that and because,
  • 8:05 - 8:08
if you look in the scriptures
there are all kind of examples
  • 8:08 - 8:11
    of how Jesus
    operated in people's lives.
  • 8:11 - 8:14
Well look if you will in
Mark chapter nine for a moment.
  • 8:14 - 8:20
    Here's a perfect
    example of how this happens.
  • 8:20 - 8:22
    You'll recall that
    in this passage,
  • 8:22 - 8:31
    for example, that verse twenty,
"They brought the boy to Him
  • 8:31 - 8:35
    when he saw Him, immediately
    the spirit threw him
  • 8:35 - 8:37
    into a convulsion, and
    falling to the ground,
  • 8:37 - 8:41
    he began rolling around
    and foaming at the mouth.
  • 8:41 - 8:44
    And He asked his father,
    'How long has this been
  • 8:44 - 8:45
    happening to him?'
  • 8:45 - 8:48
    And he said,
    'From childhood."
  • 8:48 - 8:50
    Now watch these
    next couple of verses.
  • 8:50 - 8:52
    It's been
    happening all of his life.
  • 8:52 - 8:56
"It has often thrown him both
into the fire and into the water
  • 8:56 - 8:59
    to destroy him," watch this,
    "But if You can,
  • 8:59 - 9:02
    "this is the father speaking,
but if You can, do anything,
  • 9:02 - 9:04
take pity on us and help us!'"
  • 9:04 - 9:06
    Now listen to Jesus's response:
  • 9:06 - 9:09
    "And Jesus said to him,
    'If You can?'
  • 9:09 - 9:11
    All things are possible
    to him who believes.'"
  • 9:11 - 9:13
This is not what Jesus said.
  • 9:13 - 9:16
    Listen to the tone
    of my voice.
  • 9:16 - 9:17
    If you can, all things
    are possible to Him.
  • 9:17 - 9:19
    That's not what He said.
  • 9:19 - 9:21
    He says, "If You,
    if You can help us,
  • 9:21 - 9:22
    have pity on us."
  • 9:22 - 9:24
    And Jesus said, "What do
    you mean, 'If You can'?"
  • 9:24 - 9:26
    "All things are possible
    to him who believes.'
  • 9:26 - 9:28
    And Immediately the
boy's father cried out and said,
  • 9:28 - 9:31
    'I do believe;
    help my unbelief.'"
  • 9:31 - 9:33
    Perfect example of
    what kind of faith?
  • 9:33 - 9:36
Come on, what kind of faith?
  • 9:36 - 9:41
    Little faith, and little
faith is what kind of faith?
  • 9:41 - 9:44
    Wrestling faith, struggling
    faith, laboring faith.
  • 9:44 - 9:47
    He said, "Lord, I do
    believe; help my unbelief."
  • 9:47 - 9:49
Now all of us have been
    there at some point or,
  • 9:49 - 9:51
    in time, or the other.
  • 9:51 - 9:53
And this is not to say that you
    will never hit a circumstance
  • 9:53 - 9:55
    at which you won't
    maybe feel that.
  • 9:55 - 9:58
    There are situations and
    circumstances that try our faith
  • 9:58 - 10:00
    and God understands that.
  • 10:00 - 10:02
    But He doesn't want
    us staying there.
  • 10:02 - 10:04
We may hit one of those,
but He wants us to do what?
  • 10:04 - 10:06
    To move from level
    number one of struggling,
  • 10:06 - 10:09
    wrestling, laboring
    faith to level number two.
  • 10:09 - 10:11
    And that is a perfect
    example of being there.
  • 10:11 - 10:14
    "Immediately the boy's
    father cried out and said,
  • 10:14 - 10:17
    'I do believe;
    help my unbelief."
  • 10:17 - 10:18
    What was he saying?
  • 10:18 - 10:20
    He was simply saying you
    know, I'm believing You,
  • 10:20 - 10:22
    but I'm having a
hard time at it, I'm struggling.
  • 10:22 - 10:24
    And God honored that.
  • 10:24 - 10:25
    Now watch this carefully.
  • 10:25 - 10:28
So I want to say again that does
not mean that God won't answer
  • 10:28 - 10:33
your prayer when you are in
    level number one struggling
  • 10:33 - 10:35
    because He
    understands why you're there.
  • 10:35 - 10:37
    Now, the truth is
    if you stay there,
  • 10:37 - 10:39
    then you don't
    expect God's best.
  • 10:39 - 10:43
That's not where He wants you.
    He wants you moving up.
  • 10:43 - 10:47
    Which brings us, listen,
    to level number two.
  • 10:47 - 10:49
    So think about this.
  • 10:49 - 10:51
    Level number two, we've
    moved from little faith,
  • 10:51 - 10:53
    now to great faith.
  • 10:53 - 10:56
    Great faith is reaching faith.
  • 10:56 - 11:00
    Great faith is not
willing to stay on level one.
  • 11:00 - 11:02
    Listen, great faith is not
willing to stay down there where
  • 11:02 - 11:06
you labor and wrestle and you
    doubt and you fear and
  • 11:06 - 11:08
    you're full of anxiety.
  • 11:08 - 11:10
    Great faith is
    willing to reach out.
  • 11:10 - 11:13
    It's reaching
    faith--reaching faith.
  • 11:13 - 11:15
    Now you say, "Well,
    what's reaching faith?"
  • 11:15 - 11:17
    Well, this is faith maturing.
  • 11:17 - 11:19
    Faith is
    beginning to mature now.
  • 11:19 - 11:23
    Faith now is, listen, beginning
    to stand on the truth
  • 11:23 - 11:25
    of God's Word.
  • 11:25 - 11:27
    Great faith is willing to
    believe what God said
  • 11:27 - 11:30
    because that's what He said.
  • 11:30 - 11:31
    Doesn't need any proof.
  • 11:31 - 11:34
If that's what God said, then
he believes that God will do it.
  • 11:34 - 11:37
    And this faith,
    listen, is focused on God,
  • 11:37 - 11:39
    not on the circumstances.
  • 11:39 - 11:43
Great faith is focused on God,
    not the circumstances
  • 11:43 - 11:46
    which means whenever you're in
    a situation or a circumstance,
  • 11:46 - 11:48
whatever it might be, your focus
    can't be on the circumstance,
  • 11:48 - 11:50
    how big it is,
    how long it's been,
  • 11:50 - 11:54
how bad it is, how deep
it is, how wrong it is.
  • 11:54 - 11:55
    That's not the issue.
  • 11:55 - 11:59
    The issue who is this
    God with whom I'm dealing?
  • 11:59 - 12:01
    This God is bigger than
    all my circumstances.
  • 12:01 - 12:04
    This God has the
    power to, listen.
  • 12:04 - 12:07
This God has the power to change
    any circumstance in my life
  • 12:07 - 12:09
    no matter what it is.
  • 12:09 - 12:11
Great faith is faith, it's what?
  • 12:11 - 12:13
    It's beginning to reach out.
  • 12:13 - 12:15
Now let's look at, let's look at
    a few scriptures here because
  • 12:15 - 12:18
    if you'll think about this
    whole issue of great faith,
  • 12:18 - 12:20
    where does He talk
    about great faith?
  • 12:20 - 12:23
So, let's go back to Matthew
    chapter eight for a moment.
  • 12:23 - 12:27
    Matthew chapter eight and
let's look at a few verses here.
  • 12:27 - 12:36
    Eighth chapter of Matthew,
and let's look if you will
  • 12:36 - 12:39
    at this fifth verse.
  • 12:39 - 12:42
    The centurion, "And when
    Jesus entered Capernaum,
  • 12:42 - 12:44
    a centurion came to
    Him, imploring Him,
  • 12:44 - 12:49
    and saying, 'Lord, my servant
    is lying paralyzed at home,
  • 12:49 - 12:51
    fearfully tormented."
  • 12:51 - 12:54
    Jesus said to him, 'I
    will come and heal him.'
  • 12:54 - 12:55
    Man, that's a fantastic
    response, I'll come
  • 12:55 - 12:57
    and heal him.
  • 12:57 - 12:58
    "But the centurion
    said to Him, 'Lord,
  • 12:58 - 13:00
I am not worthy for You
    to come under my roof,
  • 13:00 - 13:05
but just say the word, and
    my servant will be healed."
  • 13:05 - 13:06
    Can you say that?
  • 13:06 - 13:08
Lord Jesus, just say the word.
  • 13:08 - 13:10
    Just give me a
    verse of scripture.
  • 13:10 - 13:11
    Just speak to my heart.
  • 13:11 - 13:14
Just make it, just say the
word, my servant will be healed,
  • 13:14 - 13:16
    "For I also am a
    man under authority,
  • 13:16 - 13:18
    with soldiers under me;
and I say to this one,
  • 13:18 - 13:20
    'Go!' and he goes,
    and to another,
  • 13:20 - 13:23
    'Come!' and he
    comes, and to my slave,
  • 13:23 - 13:24
'Do this!' and he does it.'
  • 13:24 - 13:29
Now when Jesus heard this, He
marveled, and said to those who
  • 13:29 - 13:32
were following, 'Truly I say to
you, I have not found such
  • 13:32 - 13:35
    great faith with
    anyone in Israel."
  • 13:35 - 13:37
He was saying, you know, these
    Gentiles have more faith than
  • 13:37 - 13:41
    you Israelites and you're
    sons and daughters of Abraham.
  • 13:41 - 13:43
    So He says, "I've not
    seen such great faith."
  • 13:43 - 13:47
Turn to the fifteenth chapter of
Matthew and look if you will
  • 13:47 - 13:53
    in this--let's go back
    a few verses here.
  • 13:53 - 13:55
    This is the
    Syrophoenician woman.
  • 13:55 - 14:00
    Let's look if you will
    in verse twenty-two,
  • 14:00 - 14:03
    "And a Canaanite woman
    from that region came,
  • 14:03 - 14:06
    and began to cry out,
saying, 'Have mercy on me, Lord,
  • 14:06 - 14:08
    Son of David; my daughter
    is cruelly demon-possessed.'
  • 14:08 - 14:10
    But He did not
    answer her a word.
  • 14:10 - 14:12
    And His disciples came
    to Him and implored Him,
  • 14:12 - 14:16
    saying, 'Send her away,
    she keeps shouting at us.'
  • 14:16 - 14:18
But He answered and said, 'I was
sent only to the lost sheep
  • 14:18 - 14:19
    of the house of Israel.'
  • 14:19 - 14:21
    But she came and began
    to bow down before Him,
  • 14:21 - 14:23
    saying, 'Lord, help me!'
  • 14:23 - 14:24
    And He answered and said,
  • 14:24 - 14:26
'It is not good to take the
    children's bread and throw it
  • 14:26 - 14:27
    to the dogs.'"
  • 14:27 - 14:29
    Now that's a pretty strong
    statement because he was
  • 14:29 - 14:32
    saying, you know, I've come
for My own people the Jews,
  • 14:32 - 14:33
    testing her.
  • 14:33 - 14:36
    Look at this:
    "But she said, 'Yes, Lord;
  • 14:36 - 14:39
but even the dogs feed on
    the crumbs which fall from
  • 14:39 - 14:40
    their master's table.'
  • 14:40 - 14:43
    Then Jesus said
    to her, 'O woman,
  • 14:43 - 14:47
your faith is great; it shall be
done for you as you wish.'
  • 14:47 - 14:49
    And her daughter was
    healed at once."
  • 14:49 - 14:50
    You know why?
    She didn't give up.
  • 14:50 - 14:52
    Great faith doesn't give up.
  • 14:52 - 14:54
    Great faith today does not
    listen to people's
  • 14:54 - 14:56
    unwise counsel.
  • 14:56 - 14:58
    And Jesus was testing her.
  • 14:58 - 15:01
    And so oftentimes we're going
to get tested and what happens?
  • 15:01 - 15:04
    Either we listen to other
people or we go by our feelings,
  • 15:04 - 15:08
or we go by our reason,
    or we go by sight.
  • 15:08 - 15:10
God wants us to go by His Word.
  • 15:10 - 15:12
    Great faith doesn't give up.
  • 15:12 - 15:16
Great faith hangs in there no
    matter what and great faith
  • 15:16 - 15:18
    gets the answer.
  • 15:18 - 15:20
    Level two is Christ-centered.
  • 15:20 - 15:22
    Level two is God-oriented.
  • 15:22 - 15:25
    Level two does not
    focus on circumstances.
  • 15:25 - 15:27
    You said, you've said
    that about five times.
  • 15:27 - 15:28
    Right!
    You know why?
  • 15:28 - 15:30
    Because that's what the devil
wants to do--get you focused on
  • 15:30 - 15:33
    your circumstances
    rather than on God.
  • 15:33 - 15:39
    Level number three, level
    number three is perfect faith.
  • 15:39 - 15:42
    Level number three
    is resting faith.
  • 15:42 - 15:46
    Not struggling and laboring,
    not reaching--resting faith.
  • 15:46 - 15:50
    Perfect faith says
    it's a done deal.
  • 15:50 - 15:52
    Well you say, "Oh,
    now wait a minute,
  • 15:52 - 15:54
    that sounds rather
    presumptuous."
  • 15:54 - 15:56
    No, it's not.
  • 15:56 - 16:00
I want you to turn if you will
    back to Mark chapter eleven.
  • 16:00 - 16:02
    Mark chapter eleven.
  • 16:02 - 16:06
    What's happening here is that
    Jesus cursed this fig tree
  • 16:06 - 16:08
and the next day they came by
    and the disciples were
  • 16:08 - 16:11
    absolutely amazed.
  • 16:11 - 16:14
And verse twenty says, "And they
were passing by in the morning,
  • 16:14 - 16:18
    they saw the fig tree
    withered from the roots up.
  • 16:18 - 16:20
    And being reminded,
    Peter said to Him,
  • 16:20 - 16:24
'Rabbi, look, the fig tree which
    You cursed has withered.'
  • 16:24 - 16:27
And Jesus answered and said to
    them, 'Have faith in God."
  • 16:27 - 16:29
    Does, isn't it amazing
    how Jesus has these short,
  • 16:29 - 16:35
    terse, pointed, unforgettable,
    inescapable answers to something
  • 16:35 - 16:37
    that we have these
    big problems with?
  • 16:37 - 16:39
    What did He say?
    Said, "Have faith in God."
  • 16:39 - 16:41
    Look at this thing.
  • 16:41 - 16:42
    This thing is cursed
    from the roots up.
  • 16:42 - 16:44
    What's happened?
    Have faith in God.
  • 16:44 - 16:47
    Now watch this:
    "Truly I say to you,
  • 16:47 - 16:50
    whoever says to the mountain,
'Be taken up and cast into
  • 16:50 - 16:51
    the sea,' and does not
    doubt in his heart,
  • 16:51 - 16:55
but believes that what he is
    saying is going to happen;
  • 16:55 - 16:57
    it'll be granted him.
  • 16:57 - 16:58
    Now watch this next verse.
  • 16:58 - 17:00
    You listening?
    Say amen.
  • 17:00 - 17:07
"Therefore I say to you, all
things for which you pray and
  • 17:07 - 17:14
    ask, believe that you have
    received them," past tense,
  • 17:14 - 17:16
    "and they will be
    granted to you."
  • 17:16 - 17:18
    Now you say,
    "Well, that doesn't--
  • 17:18 - 17:19
    maybe that's a mistake."
  • 17:19 - 17:22
    It's not a mistake.
    Here's what He says.
  • 17:22 - 17:25
    Level three is resting faith.
  • 17:25 - 17:29
    Not struggling and laboring,
    not reaching--resting faith.
  • 17:29 - 17:33
    Level three brings you
to the level in your life where
  • 17:33 - 17:37
you ask Him and you have--
you can stand on His Word
  • 17:37 - 17:39
    in absolute assurance.
  • 17:39 - 17:40
You know God's will about that.
  • 17:40 - 17:41
And you know what it is?
  • 17:41 - 17:43
    Perfect faith says this.
  • 17:43 - 17:49
Not only can He, it's a done
    deal, it's already done.
  • 17:49 - 17:52
    No more fretting,
    no more anxiety,
  • 17:52 - 17:55
    no more worry, no more--
    no manipulation,
  • 17:55 - 18:01
no more trying to work it out,
figure it out, make it happen.
  • 18:01 - 18:07
    Perfect faith says it's
    a done deal with God.
  • 18:07 - 18:09
    Where does God
    want our faith to be?
  • 18:09 - 18:14
    Struggling, anxious,
    trying to feel better,
  • 18:14 - 18:16
    getting over depression,
is that where He wants you?
  • 18:16 - 18:18
No, it's not where He wants you.
  • 18:18 - 18:20
    I'll tell you
    where He wants you.
  • 18:20 - 18:26
He wants us moving from level
one to level two to level three.
  • 18:26 - 18:28
    Will you start out
    with level three?
  • 18:28 - 18:31
    Most of the time, not,
    but here's what happens.
  • 18:31 - 18:36
You don't stay on level one
but a very brief moment of time.
  • 18:36 - 18:38
    You move to level two.
  • 18:38 - 18:39
    And then as you
    grow in your faith,
  • 18:39 - 18:41
    you know what happens?
  • 18:41 - 18:45
    You'll be living on level
    three most of the time.
  • 18:45 - 18:47
    You know why?
  • 18:47 - 18:48
    Because here's what,
    here's the reason.
  • 18:48 - 18:53
    Because you have accepted
that He is who He says He is.
  • 18:53 - 18:56

    He says He is.
  • 18:56 - 18:58

  • 18:58 - 19:02
    He loves you unconditionally
    like He says He does.
  • 19:02 - 19:06
    And therefore, you have
    no reason to doubt Him.
  • 19:06 - 19:08

  • 19:08 - 19:10
You may not be a Christian.
  • 19:10 - 19:16

about Jesus Christ is going to
  • 19:16 - 19:20
    determine your whole eternal

    to spend eternity.
  • 19:22 - 19:24

  • 19:40 - 19:43

  • 19:43 - 19:45
    Did we trust Him
    enough to follow Him?
  • 19:45 - 19:49
Did we trust Him enough to
    take this challenge here?
  • 19:49 - 19:52
Did we trust Him enough to be
    obedient when it was difficult?

Our, all of our rewards are
going to come ultimately by our
  • 19:56 - 19:59
    faith, because our actions
are a result of our faith.
  • 19:59 - 20:04
That's why it is so important
    that you and I examine
  • 20:04 - 20:05
    our faith.
  • 20:05 - 20:08
    Look at ourselves.
  • 20:08 - 20:10
    Have I trusted Jesus Christ
    as my Savior?
  • 20:10 - 20:12
    Am I walking in faith?
  • 20:12 - 20:14
    Am I struggling down here,
    cheating myself out of the
  • 20:14 - 20:18
    blessings that God has
    already stored up for me,
  • 20:18 - 20:23
    simply because I've
    never passed the struggling,
  • 20:23 - 20:26
    wrestling, laboring faith.
  • 20:26 - 20:28
    Oh God, take me
    to level number 2.
  • 20:28 - 20:30
    God, take me to
    level number three.
  • 20:30 - 20:31
And you know what He'll do?
  • 20:31 - 20:32
    Here's what He'll do.
  • 20:32 - 20:36
    He'll give you enough
tests to grow up your faith.
  • 20:36 - 20:40
And then one of these days,
most of your decisions will be
  • 20:40 - 20:45
    perfect faith,
    if you'll trust Him.
